The One Laptop Per Child Program, or OLPC, is a non-profit organization set up to see the creation of an affordable educational device for use in the third world. The mission of OLPC is to empower the children of developing nations to learn
by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child.
Recently the OLPC XO-1 Laptop was made available to the public through the Give One Get One Program. Michael and Karey, fellow Peace Corps Volunteers here in Toledo, had family members visiting earlier in the year, who purchased a laptop through the Get One Give One Program and brought it to Belize to donate to a school in need.
St. Benedict received the laptop, and the students really enjoy working on the computer. The computer is small, durable, and easy to use, perfect for St. Benedict.
Thank you so much to Michael and Karey for thinking of St. Benedict, and thank you to Robert and JoAnn Leipzig for the computer.
