We've made our plane reservations, and we are leaving to join the Peace Corps, again. We are leaving on June 18 for staging in Miami, FL. After staging, we will fly to Belize on June 20 for Pre-Service Training. PST is a 9 week program and will include training in health, safety & security, language, cross culture, and technical skills. For the first 2 1/2 weeks as Peace Corps Trainees, we will live with a host family in a near by community while we attend training. Then we will be assigned a Community-Based Training site. We will live with a host family while we take part in language and technical training specific to our project and work areas. We will be learning one of the languages of Belize; Kriol, Garifuna, K'ekchi, or Spanish. Towards the end of CBT we will be receive our Peace Corps Volunteer site assignment, where we will live and work for the next 2 years. We will get to visit our future site for a few days, and then we will be sworn in as official Peace Corps Volunteers on August 22, 2007. We are so excited, and we can hardly wait. The countdown has begun, and we leave in 19 days.
